Wherever the Name of Jesus Christ is spoken...

Archimandrite Parthenios, Abbot of the Monastery of Saint Paul on Mount Athos:

"Wherever the Name of Jesus Christ is spoken, that place trembles, the earth shakes, and demons are terrified. This is why they do not allow people to pray the Jesus Prayer; instead, they lead them to think and talk about various things—about the winds and the waters, for example—but never to say the Jesus Prayer. This is because this prayer burns demons, sets them ablaze, destroys them, and they disappear. They cannot bear to hear the Name of God spoken; they cannot endure it! Therefore, my spiritual children, as much as you can, day and night, on the road, in the car, in a taxi, while eating—wherever you are—say this prayer within yourselves, in addition to the prayer rule given to you by your spiritual father. 

You can always say the Jesus Prayer inwardly. This is how you slowly learn unceasing prayer. In this way, a person is filled with joy because the Lord has given us a tongue to sing to Him and glorify Him. He did not give us a tongue to speak of various things that harm both our body and soul."
