Prayer is not a long list of requests to God
Share
I do not pray only when I want something or when I am afraid. Primarily, I pray to have a relationship with God. I speak with Him, and He speaks with me. I look at Him, and He looks at me. And when this relationship deepens, I no longer need to speak to Him as long as we are together in the same place of silence. What more can be said when love says it all? When you feel, you do not speak. When you love, you do not need to explain—the other person knows and feels what you feel toward them. In fact, when someone loves you deeply, they know what you desire before you even say it. This is why St. Isaac the Syrian says: "In the Kingdom of God, the language we will speak will be silence." We will communicate through love, and words will no longer be necessary. Everything will be Presence, a sense of profound fulfillment. — Fr. Haralambos Livios Papadopoulos
