Avoid idle talk. In these forty years that I have served on Aegina, I have not sat at a table even once. When they insisted, at most, I would have a cup of coffee. Nothing more. Excessive boldness in interacting with others, excessive openness and freedom, weaken a person’s spiritual resistance; the tempter then comes stealthily, comes and leads us into various troubles. Therefore, it is better to avoid this as much as possible.
